Skills Beyond the Backyard Virtual Class
Turning engagement into real world reliability
This class is designed to teach the skills dogs need to be successful in the real world, not just in controlled training spaces.
Skills Beyond the Backyard focuses on practical, functional behaviors that allow dogs to navigate busy environments with confidence. Instead of repeating foundation exercises from previous classes, this course centers on real world application, real life movement, and real time decision making.
Over four weeks, we will work through the same progression used in a board and train setting, taking skills out of the backyard and into distracting environments. Topics include loose leash walking in busy areas, polite greetings, navigating people and obstacles, and building reliability without pressure.
This class is not about perfect obedience. It is about helping dogs move through the world successfully while maintaining connection and safety. You will learn how to identify which skills matter in different environments, how to support your dog through distractions, and how to make thoughtful handling decisions when situations change.
Skills Beyond the Backyard is ideal for teams who want to go places with their dog, who want real life reliability, and who want to build those skills without flooding, force, or unrealistic expectations.
By the end of this class, you will have a clearer understanding of what dogs need to function well in busy settings and how to help them succeed outside the training bubble.
